Immediate Past District Governor’s Biography

Lion S.K. RAVIDRAN joined the Lions movement in the year 2000 representing the Lions club of Grandpass. He was introduced and sponsored by Lion M.W. Rajasingham MJF and was inducted by PDG Lion Rohitha Udawatha PMJF.

During his long Lionistic career, he has been privileged to hold very important positions in his home club and also in the district. He served his Club, Lions Club of Grandpass, as the Secretary, 1st Vice President, President, Leo advisor, Lions advisor and the rest of the years as a Director.

In the District level, he has served, as the Zone Chairperson, Region Chairperson, District Chairperson, Team Leader, District Co-coordinator and Deputy Cabinet Secretary. From the year 2004 up to date Lion S.K Ravindran has also served in the Convention Steering Committee as a member, Co-chairperson and as the Chairperson under the leadership of our Past Governors.

During these years he was also honored with numerous awards and recognitions. He was named as the most outstanding Region Chairperson - 2nd Runner-up, Most Out Standing District Chairperson, The Gold award Team Leader and as The most Out Standing Performer District Co-coordinator since 2004. He has so far received 6 International Presidents Appreciation Certificates and also a Leo Advisor Certificate. He was presented the Senior Lions Leadership Institute Certificate and Pin and has been certified as a Guiding Lion and Extention Chairman for two New Clubs. Lion S.K Ravindran is a Melvin Jones Fellow also member of the Lanka Lion Foundation and was also awarded a club extension pin by the Lions International.

Since his involvement in the Lions movement, he has attended 10 International Conventions. He was elected as the 2nd Vice District Governor for the fiscal year 2013/2014 at the 8th Annual District Convention.

Lion Ravi gained his primary education at St. John’s College Jaffna and secondary education as NDT (Civil Engineering) at Katubadda Campus. After completing his education, he took up to kick starting his profession at Samuel & Sons Co. Ltd as a Technical assistant and soon progressing into other opportunities at Brown & Co. Ltd. as the Construction Superintendent.

Also he worked at Walkers & Sons Ltd as an Asst. Civil Engineer. At present he is the Managing Partner of his own Construction Company Engineering Construction Consortium.

His interest spanned much more than just education and work. During his student days he represented his college in Cricket, Soccer and Hockey Teams and he also represented mercantile ‘A’ Division Cricket, Soccer and Hockey Teams as well. He had also held many positions within the sporting teams. He served the SL Tennis Ball and Tape Ball Cricket Association as the Vice President. He was also the Ground Pavilion Social & Restaurant Secretary of Colombo Colts Cricket Club and served the Women’s Cricket Association of Sri Lanka as the Treasure/Secretary/V. President/Tournament Secretary/Manger and finally as the National selector. He was an active member of the OBA of St.John’s College, South Sri Lanka while serving as the Vice President.

Lion S.K Ravindran is married to Lady Lion Mangaleshwary who is also a very active Lion and she is also currently serving as the Vice Patron of the Lion Ladies Committee. Lion S. K Ravindran was blessed with two daughters. His eldest daughter Dhanakshi, holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration (London, UK) and is currently employed within the financial industry in Central London. The younger daughter Viluckshi is an Architect who completed her Bachelors of Science (Architecture) (Honors) in Malaysia and is currently reading for her Masters (MSc) in Architecture.
